Where We Go When Doing Submissions & Information About The Process

Welcome to My Web Guy's list of internet directories. Web directory submission can be an effective measure in jump starting a link campaign or to ensure that your site is accessible to the potential visitors who utilize them. Unfortunately many "directories" are nothing more than link exchange programs for someone's competitor. Beyond that, many exclude the passage of PR, charge exorbitant fee's or display requirements after submission.

My Web Guy encourages all of his clients to create a general resources page to post links to valuable directories that require a back link and to include appx $400 in their annual expenditures for paid submissions. Keeping an eye on new directories can afford you better placement and provide a few very economical one way links at a fraction of the cost of more traditional internet advertising.

There are many directories that offer free inclusion based on specific criterion set by the specific directory. Examples of these include: Joe Ant - submissions are free if you have been approved as an editor, OverSite - submissions are free but they only include unique sites of high quality. There are many "niche" directories that service specific markets. A good example is OverlyReal.com that accepts only real estate related submissions.

We have excluded PPC and link exchanges from business sites that promote themselves as directories. The recorded data is our closest approximation and pr values were rounded up. • BOTW - Best Of The Web Directory has been around a long time and has stringent quality standards so your listing will be maintained in good company.
• Yahoo Directory - The $299 annual review fee keeps many away but if the budget is there the Yahoo Directory is a worthwhile investment.
